Prepare your university application documents with purpose.

Good document preparation starts with the requirements of the receiving university. Use this as an organising checklist, then confirm the exact list for your programme, nationality and intake.

Discuss your study plans

Start with a short academic summary

For an initial MetaSkills enquiry, share your school or previous university qualification, subjects, broad results, nationality, current country of residence and intended programme. Add your preferred intake and destination if you know them.

You do not need to attach a passport, transcript or identity document to start that conversation. The website prepares an email draft in your email application and does not accept document uploads.

Build an institution-specific checklist

After a suitable course and application route have been identified, obtain the university’s current requirements. A typical organising folder may contain the following, but this is not a universal mandatory list.

  • Academic certificates and transcripts for relevant previous study
  • Identity and passport information requested for the official application
  • Language evidence, where required for the particular programme
  • References, statement or portfolio if the course asks for them
  • Any required translations or verification instructions
  • Offer conditions, application receipts and official correspondence

Check names, dates and versions

Compare how your name appears across your documents. Ask the receiving institution how to handle any differences rather than modifying an official record yourself. Keep final results distinct from predictions, provisional certificates and unofficial copies.

Where a translation, attestation or medical document is requested, confirm who may issue it, how it must be submitted and whether it has a validity period. Requirements for an admission application may differ from those for student immigration.

Use the right channel for sensitive documents

Before sharing a document, confirm the recipient, purpose and official submission channel. Keep a record of what was submitted and the response. Avoid sending a large collection of personal documents to an unverified address or paying for unnecessary preparation before the actual requirements are known.

Malaysia’s EMGS guidance is an example of an official checklist with nationality-specific items. Always read the current instructions for the destination and your own circumstances.

Your questions

A clearer next step.

Is this the complete document list for every destination?

No. The final list depends on the university, programme, application route, nationality and relevant immigration process. Use the current official instructions.

Can I upload a passport to the website?

No. Initial enquiries do not need sensitive document uploads. Discuss the required purpose and submission channel before providing application documents.
